Introduction
The Secaucus Fire Department is always looking for male or female volunteers. You must be 16 years of age and a resident of Secaucus to join the Fire Department. Anyone interested may stop by any firehouse on Sunday mornings from January through May or Monday evenings from June through September. You may also fill out the survey below and we will contact you as soon as possible. The Secaucus Volunteer Fire Department values diversity in the workplace. Important Facts To Consider
Time commitment: Volunteering with any station in Secaucus requires a very significant time commitment on the applicant’s part. Training at one of the Fire Academies and at the station which will add to these hours. Members are required to attend meetings, and will frequently be asked to help out with community events. Meeting such time requirements needs a significant commitment on the part of the applicant and their family/significant others. We strongly encourage that the applicant think about the time commitment in terms of their families and/or significant other to ensure that they have their support and understanding.
Training: All members of the Secaucus Fire Department must attend a State Certified Fire Academy and complete the Firefighter I Course. All active members of the department also attend continuing education courses, including Firefighting Safety, Firefighter II, CPR, and the Incident Command System (ICS).
Department members continue to attend in-house hands-on training such as Vehicle Extraction, Driver Training, and Tower Ladder Operations to expand their knowledge and keep abreast of new trends.
